Freezin’ for a Reason! Columbus Polar Plunge back at Lower.com Field on Saturday, February 10th — 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

(January 29, 2024) – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – The 2024 Columbus Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Ohio presented by G&J Pepsi and The Basement Doctor will take place on the Chase Plaza at Lower.com Field (96 Columbus Crew Way) in downtown Columbus. Polar plungers will take an icy dip in an 18’ x 9’ x 52” pool to raise funds to support programs for the athletes in Ohio.

The fun-filled event will take place on Saturday, February 10th from 10:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. with registration starting at 9:30 a.m.  In the spirit of “Freezin’ for a Reason,” participants will show their enthusiasm for the cause by wearing crazy costumes accentuated with a boost of adrenaline as they get ready to take the plunge. The festivities will include music, food & drinks, and the always entertaining costume contest before the plunge. Joining the fun, Crew Cat, the Columbus Crew mascot will be on-hand to encourage participants to jump in.

The Columbus Polar Plunge is one of eight that have been scheduled to take place in communities across Ohio from January through March. Participants are invited to either take part in-person or virtually with their teams in support of the 20,000 Special Olympics athletes throughout Ohio. Participation in the in-person or virtual event is open by visiting columbuspolarplunge.org.

The impact of the Polar Plunge supports year-round sports training and competition, health education and leadership programs for Special Olympics athletes. By fundraising $75 or more, participants help provide opportunities for athletes at no cost to them while creating a greater sense of belonging for everyone in the community.
