SPECIAL OLYMPICS OHIO TO HOST STATE SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT IN OREGON THIS WEEKEND
WHAT – The 2024 Special Olympics Ohio State Softball Tournament and Skills Competition
WHO – Over 300 athletes, partners and coaches from 24 local Special Olympics organizations will participate. These include: Ashtabula County, Columbus Schools Comets, Darke County Dawgs, Erie County Bucks, Fayette County Dragons, Franklin County Flyers, Geauga County, Hancock County Buckeyes, Henry County Cougars, Logan County Braves, Lucas County Lightning, Marion County Hawks, Medina County Flash, Montgomery County Dawgs, Murray Ridge Raiders, Pickaway County Hawks, Portage County Thunder, Ottawa County Rockets, Stark County, Stark Public Schools Royal Knights, Tuscarawas County Rockets, Westerville Wolves, Williams County Sharks and Wood County Wildcats.
WHEN – Saturday, September 7, 2024; Opening Ceremony at 8:30 a.m.; Competitions begin at 9:00 a.m.
WHERE – William P. Coontz Recreation Complex (5420 Seaman Rd Oregon, OH 43616)
WHY – This Saturday, September 7th, Special Olympics Ohio will host the State Softball Tournament and Skills Competition at Coontz Recreation Complex in Oregon. The State Softball Tournament is one of four major events spread across Ohio that make up the 2024 Fall Games. Athletes with intellectual disabilities will compete in softball games and skills competitions over the weekend. This is the second year that Special Olympics Ohio has partnered with the Coontz Recreation Complex in conjunction with Oregon Parks and Recreation to host the event. Both organizations are looking forward to celebrating our athlete’s accomplishments!
