Polar Plunge For Special Olympics Ohio

The Polar Plunge® is our largest community fundraising event benefiting athletes. In order to participate, individuals or teams collect pledges from friends, family, and others in their communities to take an icy plunge in the name of inclusion!

There are many ways to engage as you can take the plunge, make a donation, volunteer your time, or align your company brand with this signature event. And you won’t want to miss the notorious Polar Plunge Costume Contest!

Event FAQs

How Much Money Do I Need To Raise?

To participate in the Polar Plunge (and get a t-shirt), you must raise or donate $75. We encourage you to set a goal and try and raise more in support of athletes while earning cool swag! See the fundraising toolkit here.

Is There A Costume Contest?

Yes! A costume contest will take place at each in person Polar Plunge. Come in your best individual or group costume to enter!

What Are The Incentives?

Incentives vary based on how much you raise! Incentive minimums must be raised per individual Plunger on their individual Polar Plunge page:

  • $50: Junior Plunger participation and Polar Plunge t-shirt
  • $75: Participate in the plunge and get a Polar Plunge T-shirt
  • $300: Polar Plunge t-shirt and Polar Plunge blanket

When Will I Get My Fundraising Incentives?

All incentives for in-person events will be distributed at the Polar Plunge; virtual participants (Plunge My Way or Cool Schools) will have their incentives mailed to them directly or their team captain to distribute.

Who Should Checks Be Made Out To?

Checks should be made out to Special Olympics Ohio.

Can I send money offline?

Yes! Please mail checks or cash (no change) to Special Olympics Ohio, Attn: Polar Plunge at 921 Eastwind Dr, Suite 120, Westerville, OH 43081. Please include the name of the person plunging so that the donation can be credited to them.

Are donations tax deductible?

Yes! All donations are tax deductible and donors will receive appropriate receipt for their records.

What is the refund policy?

Charitable contributions are non-refundable and the minimum fundraising requirement is considered a charitable contribution and is therefore also non-refundable.

What Covid-19 Safety Procedures And Policies Are In Place?

Special Olympics Ohio continues to monitor CDC and county guidelines and will follow all applicable mandates and recommendations. If you are feeling ill, have COVID-19, or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, do not attend a Polar Plunge event.
