SUMMARY
The Northeast Regional Director of Field Operations for Special Olympics Ohio (SOOH) is responsible for overseeing the organization’s mission of strengthening leadership for athletes to perform at their best through sports programming throughout Ohio.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Oversee, plan, implement, and manage all aspects of NE Regional qualifying sports and competitions throughout the sports calendar year.
  • Recruit, train, develop, and manage a volunteer Regional Management Team (RMT) to assist in all aspects of the region’s sports programming.
  • Coordinate and assist with fundraising efforts within the region, seeking guidance and direction from SOOH’s Marketing and Development Team. This will substantiate approximately 30% of your work hours and will have specific fundraising goals tied to your performance evaluation.
  • Managing a portfolio of key Special Olympics Ohio stakeholder relationships within the NE Region, as well as responsible for new business/relationship generation
  • Plan and develop an annual operating budget for the NE Region.
  • Train and instruct field leaders and local programs to utilize the Games Management System (GMS) and SO Connect™.
  • Onboarding new local coordinators in all facets of their program requirements to help them feel comfortable and confident in their roles as quickly as possible and mediate any issues within the region prior to escalation.
  • Act as a resource providing assistance with local event planning and implementation.
  • Attend and participate in local organizational meetings when possible.
  • Facilitate Unified Champion Schools and Health Initiatives efforts within the region.
  • Participate in SOOH events, meetings, training schools, and conferences as requested by the Senior Director of Field Operations.

Miscellaneous Information
1. This is a full-time, exempt position
2. Days and hours of work are primarily Monday through Friday, 8:00AM – 5:00PM
3. Evening/weekend work will be required to meet job demands during Special Olympics events

Preferred Education & Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience
2. Special Olympics sports program administration experience
3. Proven track record of fundraising for a non-profit organization

Additional Eligibility Requirements
1. Reside within a reasonable commute distance from the SOOH Regional Office in Amherst (Lorain County) and Cuyahoga County for fundraising and canvassing purposes
2. Valid & current Ohio driver’s license
3. Stable driving record; proof of auto insurance eligibility for organizational requirements
4. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office product series and relevant sports database systems

Compensation
The starting annual salary for this position is $45,000.00 and is reviewed at the end of each calendar year against performance objectives
