For many people, competing in a triathlon seems like a lofty goal. That is not the case for Special Olympics Ohio athlete Samantha Edenfield. In fact, she not only completed a triathlon, she went on to run a half marathon later in the same week!

Samantha, who trains and competes in Athletics (track & field) and Swimming with the Franklin County- Westerville local organization, achieved this impressive status earlier this summer in Anchorage, Alaska.

According to Samantha’s mom, Mary, “Samantha didn’t really go in to these events with any time goals to speak of, she just wanted to have fun and to complete the races.” Mary, who competed in these races alongside her daughter, added that she and Samantha are training for the Columbus (full) marathon in October and that Samantha has expressed interest in entering an Ironman Triathlon.

Way to go, Samantha!
