Cleveland Hockey Team to Host “Special Olympics Night with the Lake Erie Monsters”

The Lake Erie Monsters, a minor league hockey team affiliated with the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League, will host “Special Olympics Night with the Lake Erie Monsters,” Saturday, January 31, at 7:30 p.m. at Quicken Loans Arena, located in downtown Cleveland. The Monsters will square off against the Hamilton Bulldogs in the American Hockey League contest.

As part of the promotion, $2 for every ticket sold through special outlets will be donated to Special Olympics Ohio. These tickets, available through January 5, may be obtained from http://theqarena.com/store/lem_specialolympics; or by phoning 216.420.2567 and indicating the intent to purchase tickets that benefit Special Olympics Ohio. Please note if ordering online you must enter promotional code soo.

Activities the night of the promotion include a special introduction of Ohio’s 2009 World Winter Games athletes and coaches; the unveiling of a new Monsters game jersey, which will be auctioned for the benefit of Special Olympics Ohio; and the donation of all proceeds from “Chuck-a-Puck” to Special Olympics Ohio.

 

State Team Bowling Set for October; State Aquatics Meet to be Held in December

Combined, more than 1,500 Special Olympics Ohio athletes are expected to compete in the State Team Bowling Tournament, to be held in October, and in the State Aquatics Championships, to be held in December.

Giant Billboard in Cleveland Promotes “Be a fan” Campaign

A giant 20 by 80-foot billboard promoting Special Olympics Ohio’s “Be a fan” campaign is now up in downtown Cleveland. The billboard is placed adjacent to Cleveland Browns stadium, where thousands of football fans flock each fall.
