Special Olympics Coaches’ Requirements
There are 4 types of Special Olympics Ohio Coaches. Click here to view the requirements of each type. All Special Olympics Coaches must complete the Sport Assistant Requirements at minimum.
ALL COACHES MUST COMPLETE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR SPORT ASSISTANT BY JANUARY 2020. Head coaches will be expected to completed the minimum requirements for a Level 1 Certified Coach. Coaches aren’t expected to obtain Level 3 status, you will be expected to complete all requirements for the sport assistant status. However, Special Olympics Ohio does encourage all coaches to strive to achieve the Level 3 Certified Coach status. Coaches who complete the Level 2 Certified Coach status will receive a Certified Coach Polo. The purpose of this certification is to provide training consistency for coaches and to give coaches the opportunity to continue their education throughout their coaching career. This protocol will help coaches to provide athletes with a meaningful experience and to help them reach their goals.
CLASS A VOLUNTEER FORMS STILL NEED TO BE FILLED OUT AND BACKGROUND CHECK COMPLETED PRIOR TO COACHING!
Please note that ALL Class A Volunteers (this includes ALL Coaches) must complete and pass the new SOOH General Orientation Quiz. The quiz and information to complete the quiz can be found here. Current certified coaches will need to complete the SOOH General Orientation.
