Due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis, Special Olympics Ohio and Cleveland Hopkins International Airport have announced the cancellation of the 11th annual Cleveland Plane Pull, scheduled for Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the I-X Center at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. The Plane Pull is a signature fundraising event for Special Olympics that challenges teams of up to 20 members to pull a 737 or similar passenger plane twelve feet for time.

“This is certainly a difficult cancellation to announce,” said Special Olympics Ohio CEO Jessica Stewart. “The 2020 Cleveland Plane Pull was on track to be bigger and better than ever before and it’s extremely disappointing to remove this exciting fundraising event from our calendar.  However, we are not willing to compromise the health and safety of our athletes, event participants, volunteers, and fans – and that is something I know the entire Special Olympics Ohio family will understand.”

At the 2019 Cleveland Plane Pull, nearly 700 participants raised more than $50,000 for the athletes of Special Olympics Ohio.
